Brian Pereira's - The Life of a Fighter

Many misunderstandings can accompany the average person when thinking what a fighter's life is like. View Pereira in action, changing the stereotype of a fighter from a mere barbarian, to a male with respect, modesty, devotion, earned by years of training and much tenacity- a drive to succeed stronger than the world could ever fathom humanly possible...

Pereira's History

Brian Pereira was born into the world of martial arts, starting Judo at only 3 years old through his judo based family. (Brian's older brother Jason, whom was his idol, was a former Junior World/Olympic team member and was 10 years older than his younger brother).  Becoming top 3 in his catergory nationally at only 8 years old, it was obvious Brian had much potential to someday succeed further and possibly grow into a future icon for US JUDO. This was further supported from 15-18 years old, when Pereira continued to rank top 3 in the 73-81 kg catergory, even taking 2nd in Ohio at the  2005 Junior Nationals at 17 years old.
He knew however, if he wanted to shine in the 18+ yr old catergory (OLYMPIC DIVISION), that he would need to make a decision of just how far he was willing to take the sport.
Meeting one of his greatest admirations, Sensei Edson Carvalho at 18 years old set his goals straight. Pereira viewed Carvalho as one of the greatest in the World at Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, admiring especially his Ne-Waza and submission skills. He realized to be the best in the world too one day, that he would need to dedicate a full curriculum of training daily and follow it immediately.
Learn about Pereira's current journey to acheiving maximum efficiency and just how he plans to donate judo to the world, and strengthen US JUDO competitively and politically.  Pereira is confident that Judo has formed his modest etiquette ever since the  day he first bowed onto the mat as only a toddler (bowing onto the mat is tradition in Judo clubs out of respect to the dojo as the area given for practice, and not to be confused with any religious means other than a pure dedication and love for judo- a way of life).
